Yes, You Can!

On this day, as we honor Martin Luther King, Jr., I would like to reflect on one of my favorite quotes of his:I have lived largely with this attitude over the past several years. I strive to keep moving in the direction of personal growth, whether it be fitness, nutrition, recovery, faith or relationships.

I’ve learned when you legitimately can’t do something (meaning your not using “I can’t” as an excuse), there typically is an alternative to what you CAN do. For example, my knee puts physical limitations on my exercise options so instead of focusing on what I can’t do, I explore the options of what I can. Maybe you can’t go to an AA meeting, but you can pick up the phone. Maybe you can’t get to Church, so you set aside prayer time.

Recently I’ve been plagued with a lot of “I can’t” in the form of self doubt. That can be a tough one to push through, but it’s possible by talking it through with a loved one. I’ve already proven that I’m stronger than I realize, but sometimes need to be reminded of that and believe in myself.

Just keep moving forward and watch the progression unfold. It’s a beautiful thing.
