Goodbye February, Hello March!!!
This empty nester is starting the month of March with a FULL nest!!! Let the adventures begin. I am ready for everything March has in store for me.
But first, I’d like to reflect on February.
On my post from February 11, 54 Before 54, I made a list of 54 things I plan on accomplishing prior to my 54th birthday. Even though it’s only been a few weeks, I’ve learned a few things through working on my list.
One of my items is to finish four books that I’ve started. I’m famous for starting & stopping a book, dragging it out, or not finishing it at all. I made a timeline for the items that would require more time, breaking it down monthly. I figured the book, “Grit” by Angela Duckworth would be the perfect book to finish, setting the tone for the remainder of the year (more on her book on my previous post, Are You Ready?). It wasn’t an easy read, but very motivating. I had a deadline of finishing it by February 28th and I did. Her book left me feeling motivated & inspired. AND there was no greater satisfaction than finishing the book and accomplishing my goal. It felt so good!
What I’ve learned in the past few weeks is time management and prioritizing my day. With my reading goals, it leaves less time in my day for watching TV. My mindset has now changed back to the “Is it worth it?” when I joined WW (formerly Weight Watchers). When calculating points of food for meal planning or snacks, I’d ask myself, “Is it worth it?” Same applies now to TV. “Is it worth my time?” With this mindset now applied to TV, I finished up a couple of Netflix series and put Netflix to a close. I’ve cleaned up my DVR by deleting shows and series recording that I feel are no longer worth my time. It is freeing!!!
This week I’m enjoying a full weeks vacation with all of my family in Colorado!!! Since my adult children left the nest, I have a greater appreciation of when we are together. This mama is happy!!! We will be celebrating my sons birthday, celebrating Mardi Gras, followed by the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lots of quality time filled with fun & adventures!!!
Go out this week with a determination to crush your goals!!! It’s a wonderful feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Lisa, I like your attitude. I am setting some new writing goals for the next couple of months. I look forward to “crushing” mine as well.
