We Did It!!!

Focus. Mind over matter. Faith over fear. One of the many self affirmations I repeated to myself.

Exhilarating!!! The final word that came to mind yesterday when Steven & I reached The Summit in Crested Butte. We all need that one person who believes in us, to push us and help us reach our destination. Here’s that guy, and I am beyond blessed.

“You should hike to the Summit,” was the suggestion given by Steven and our son Nicholas. I didn’t give this suggestion much thought until Steven & I arrived in Crested Butte a few days ago and started planning our days. We figured we would do the Summit on Sunday after Mass, the farmers market and lunch. This time we paid closer attention to the lift signs, unlike in Montana (August 2018)

Oops, had to call for help to get us down the mountain before dark (Montana)

Not this time 😝

So off we go!!! Steven & I take the Silver Queen lift up to begin our hike and I’m feeling excited about this adventure. The hike is going along well, enjoying nature, and we reach this!

Well that’s an understatement, but let’s go!!! Time to tackle the Peak Trail to reach the top. Moving right along when all of a sudden, this pops out of nowhere and right in front of me and I screamed 😫. I’m not sure who was afraid more, me of this cute American Pika, or Steven from fear that I was in a serious situation. Sorry 😐

Along we go, climbing up SO many rocks. Everyone on their way down offered encouragement:

Your ALMOST there.

Not much further.

This is the worst part.

And finally we have arrived. We reached the top!!! WE DID IT!!! It was the most exhilarating feeling I’ve ever experienced. The persistence & determination to get there was worth the beautiful view. One step at a time, embracing the journey we DID it!!!

This is definitely one of my proudest accomplishments.

Pictures do not do it justice. It was simply breathtaking being surrounded by God’s beauty with the one you love.

What comes up must come down… it wasn’t too graceful, but oh well. I had no problem taking a break and soaking it all in.

We enjoyed our hike back down, missing the 2:45 Silver Queen lift, hiking a bit further down to the Red Lady with 18 minutes to spare πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

I’m so emotional over this personal accomplishment and grateful to have experienced it with Steven. It’s hard to put into words.

I encourage you, to reach out to accomplish what your heart desires. I’ve learned that I’m much stronger than I realize, and you are too.
