God’s Nudge

Have you ever been gently nudged to do something or call on someone that didn’t make sense? You may even question the nudge internally. How do you respond to the nudge? Resistance or surrender?

I’d like to share with you an experience where I initially resisted, but ultimately decided to trust God and lean in.

Recently I was in turmoil over a situation that was stealing my peace. My husband, Steven, has always been my support, but I felt the need to reach out to seek further perspective. While at Church I’d look around and wonder how “they” would handle my situation! Assumptions, I know. I honed in on one couple which was rather eye opening as I would play out the scene in my head. But in a healthier manner, God kept bringing me back to this one lady in particular. This happened on several different occasions. I found it intriguing that God repeatedly nudged me in her direction.

  • Why?
  • I don’t understand.
  • My husband has a relationship with her, but she’s only an acquaintance of mine.

After choosing to walk away from the opportunity to approach her, I recently ran into her at a local drugstore.

God did for me what I could not do for myself.

I could have easily walked away without her seeing me, but without even thinking I called out her name and told her God had placed her on my heart and I would love the opportunity to get together with her to discuss a situation. She gave me her phone number and we made plans.

Arriving at the restaurant, we made small talk before diving in. I started with “in a nutshell…” and in TWO words, she stopped in shock, eyes filled with tears and responded. Mystery solved. We were immediately bonded. We both shared our experiences while giving each other perspective.

Before we parted, I found myself telling her “I will never question God’s nudge again.”

Thank you GOD for giving me the courage to LEAN IN. God is good and always has a plan.

Jesus, I trust in you.
